Holds a BA in Political Science from the Universidad de los Andes (88), a Masters in Political Science from the University of São Paulo (92), and a Ph.D in Political Science from the University of São Paulo (97). Post-Doctor from the Columbia University (2008). At present he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at FFLCH-USP, working in the undergraduate program of International Relations and the graduate program in Political Is director of the Nécleo de Pesquisas em Relações Internacionais (NUPRI) Science. Teaches courses on the theory of international relations and international security and international . His research themes are: International Security, United States and Latin America, Brazilian Foreign Policy and non-state actors. He is the author of the book From the Realism Crisis to Multidimensional Global Security (99) and co-editor of the book Os Clássicos das Relações Internacionais . Editor of a collection on International Relations by Hucitec Publishing House (Brazil).
